Easels are great. Anyone with young toddlers at home will know how hard it is to keep them quiet and entertained at the same time. The Little Tikes Easel does just that. If you are thinking about buying the Little Tikes Easel, or if you are just researching to gift one for your relative then it pays to learn more about some of the pros and cons of this easel before you make the decision to buy one.
Pros

1. Double Easel - This easel features dual side to keep up to two kids entertained at the same time and comes with wide trays on both sides for storing art supplies. With chalkboard on one side and a large plastic clip to hold a 50-sheet pad of paper on the other side, this easel provides the kids a medium to learn to explore the world of drawing & coloring.
2. Durable & Kids Safe - Designed with kids' safety in mind, this easel is made of non-toxic plastic material and comes in a variety of colors. It is very sturdy and can withstand rough use. The edges are rounded and they are hard to hurt the kids in anyway. Made of high quality plastic, this easel is bound to be around for years for your kids to play with.
3. Portable & Easy to Use - This easel can be used indoors, outdoors or anywhere in the house. It is fairly light and easy to move from room to room if needed. Folds quite easily for compact storage.
4. Easy to Clean - The plastic snap-on trays are easy to remove and can be transported to the sink to wash out the paint. In summer when the easel is kept outside for the kids to play with, you can just turn the hose on and spray it down. The paint flows of the plastic easily and the easel looks like new.
5. Easy to Assemble - This easel is very simple and does not come with a lot of bells and whistles making the assembling process a snap. You would need only a few tools to put this together.
Cons
1. Large & Bulky - This easel is a bit bulky and can take up quite a bit of room. Check it out in the local store before you buy it online, as it may not fit well in your home.
2. Paper Clip - The large plastic paper clip that holds the paper isn't as strong as it could be. It has trouble holding a whole pad of paper and the paper keeps falling out. You can tear off a few sheets to make it hold.
3. Pre Drilled Holes - The pre-drilled holes do not line up properly for installation. You may need to give it a go with a wooden hammer to line up. Also, there were no pre-drilled holes to attach the chalkboard when we bought one. We had to drill our own. Not a major issue but an irritant.
4. Chalkboard - This is one major issue. The chalkboard is black plastic and it doesn't perform the same as a real chalkboard; it is hard to draw on and erase. I didn't like this personally but the kids didn't seem to mind.
5. Chalk Dust - The chalk sticks that come included with this easel seem to be very dusty. Could be because of low quality. I would recommend buying your own chalk from some well-known brands.
To conclude, even though there are some concerns about this easel there is nothing that's a show stopper. You can work around the issues and continue to use this easel for a long, long time.
